Bali Jul 2010 ~ Benkay Japanese Restaurant at Nikko Bali

Recently did an event at Nikko Bali Resort & Spa in Nusa Dua area. This resort is right at the end of Nusa Dua and has a stunning view of the India Ocean. It is unique because it is located atop a 40m cliff. The most unique part is one of the hotel block (the cliff tower) is built against the cliff wall. 15 storeys down to the pool and beach area.

Here's the view from a cliff tower room.

Just before the client arrived, we needed to quickly have a decent meal before we get harrassed by clients and get bogged down by all the logistics. Decided to "pamper" ourselves a little so decided on Japanese, since this is a Japanese hotel, the Japanese restaurant must be not bad.

Benkay did not dissappoint. Service staff were attentive and the view was stunning. The restaurant has several private dining corners too. Of course, the most important was the food.

Starter - cannot remember but it was some fried fish with pickles, it was very tasty

Cold so~men with Tempura
The noodle was so smooth and fine it was almost heavenly.

Ama~ebi and salmon sashimi
I am not a huge fan of salmon, but I must say this is one of the best I have tasted. So fresh and it almost felt it melted in my mouth. The amaebi was good size and was really sweet.

Curry Katsu Rice

Pricing is on the high side though, but not uncommon in Bali where you pay a premium for quality food/ambience. All the above, plus another udon soup, 2 ice coffees and a fruit juice costed us almost USD80.
